The goal of this class will be to provide students with the necessary tools to draw the human figure and place it successfully in a composition. Students will work from a live model each session, starting with gesture poses and working systematically to longer poses as the class progresses.  Each week the instructor will set up a long pose that will challenge the students? compositional skills.  How to prepare successful compositions will be analyzed and discussed.  In addition, the anatomy of the body and how to use it to create solid figure drawings will be addressed.  Portrait construction will also be covered.  Each facial feature will be addressed and analyzed, a systematic approach will be used to build the eyes, nose mouth and ears.  Other topics discussed will be line quality, successful shading, and  overlapping of form to create 3-dimensionality.  Instructor will focus on individual attention.  The teacher will be present both Mondays and Wednesdays.  All levels from beginners to advanced are welcome.

This class will teach the basic skills necessary to approach figure drawing.  Students will learn basic shading techniques, simple anatomical concepts, comprehension of line.  Building solid planes, portrait construction, and a variety of other topics, through lectures and examples.  Working with a life model, poses will range from quick gesture poses to longer poses.  This class is designed for beginners and those seeking to develop a personal approach to drawing.  Emphasis will be place on individual attention.

DRAWING AND PAINTING THE PORTRAIT

This class will give students an introduction to the basics necessary to draw the human face. Topics reviewed will include: how to use light and shadow to create 3 dimensional forms in the human head. Helpful tips to draw the eyes, nose, mouth, and ears will be given. A live model will be used each session. Each week a new pose will give students the opportunity to practice a new portrait. Beginners and advanced are welcome.
